It’s no April Fool’s, Nether Hall has today officially joined the Mead Educational Trust (TMET), one of the leading multi-academy trusts in the region. Now called Netherhall Mead Academy, it is the first special school to be part of the Trust, which has five secondary and eight primary schools in Leicester and Leicestershire.

As Netherhall is located on the same site as Orchard Mead Academy, is also part of TMET, the schools have already seen the benefits of sharing resources.

Principal Sarah Naylor said: “When our governors first made the decision to join an academy trust, we naturally looked to TMET, as we could see the many advantages to being part of a strong, local family of schools. We quickly felt that the Trust and our school have a similar and strong moral purpose – to work together to make a positive difference to our children.

“TMET is an excellent fit for our school. Our staff have already benefitted from the initial work we’ve done with the Trust, and I know this will only increase as we work more closely together.”

Sarah Ridley, TMET CEO, said: “This is a really exciting day for us. Netherhall has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in special educational needs, and the other Mead schools are very much looking forward to working with and learning from their staff. Their expertise will bring real benefits to our whole Mead community.”
