Creativity can often ‘unlock’ potential for communication, self-expression and personal development. Creativity is observed in many forms across Netherhall Mead Academy; from roleplay and imaginative play as part of a continuous provision model, to more structured opportunities in art, drama, music, DT and dance.

Creativity and creative thinking overlap with other curriculum areas in activities such as cooking, creative writing and story-telling. We use creative learning approaches in the classroom and additional curriculum opportunities that pupils access through school performances, music club, singing, performing in theatres, dancing at Curve and many more.

We also maintain a strong partnership with Attenborough Arts and other local arts organisations and practitioners to develop creativity opportunities and provision.

The creativity curriculum is structured in two areas:

  1. Creative Thinking
  1. Appreciation and Experience of the Arts
